Waste collection and treatment operation in Cua Van fishing village

 

Sea Culture Conservation Centre under Halong Bay Management Department in collaboration with the Van Chai Halong Cooperative has launched an operation to collect and treat waste at Cua Van fishing village

The operation is part of the plan to organize activities in response to Vietnam Sea and Islands Week, National Water and Environment, World Environment Day of the Provincial Federation of Labor.

At the operation, nearly 50 staff of the conservation Sea Culture Conservation Centre and fishermen from Cua Van village has collected, transported and processed approximately 6 m3 garbage in the water and around the foot of the rock formations in the area

The Sea Culture Conservation Centre also works with other organizations and societies to present waste bins to fisherman families and encourage people to actively protect environmental hygiene.

The Centre is known to have developed the program in collaboration with the Van Chai Halong Cooperative to organize operations to collect and process waste on a monthly basis. Thereby raising awareness of environmental protection for members of the Cooperative, actively participate in collecting floating garbage when rowing boats to take tourists to visit Cua Van fishing village.

Cua Van is a famous floating fishing village in Halong Bay, it was voted by Journeyect magazine as one of the beaufitul villages in the world for the tourists to visit one time in life. Cua Van is originated from two old fishing villages Giang Vong and Truc Vong, belong to Halong city, the village is inhabited by 180 families with about 800 people, most of them live on fishing.

When Halong Bay was recognized as a World Natural Heritage by Unesco and one of the New 7 World Wonders this village has become an indispensable part in the itinerary of the Halong bay cruises, visitor will have a chance to learn about local daily life and their customs.

After the Cua Van operation, The Sea Culture Conservation Centre will launch other activities to make Halong bay cleaner, contribute to the sustainable development of Halong tourism....
